Zygomatic Implants
These Implants Are Anchored Into The Zygomatic Bone
Service Overview
Dental implants are a way to replace missing teeth with something that looks, feels, and mimics a natural tooth. When these implants become difficult to place in the upper jaw bone, research has developed newer and more advanced ways of implant placement. The cheekbone, which is also known as the malar bone, is technically known as the “zygomatic bone.” It is the main anchorage for zygomatic implant placement. When implants are planned for the upper jaw, it is usually a challenging situation. The upper jaw may pose a few of the following problems:
- Poorer quality of bone available in the upper jaw compared to the lower jaw due to age or bone resorption
- Decreased width and height of bone over time may be due to various factors.
- The presence of air spaces or sinuses in the upper jaw may also reduce the available height of bone in the back tooth regions.
WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE MISSING TEETH?
Teeth are an integral part of our life. Tooth enamel is one of the hardest parts of our body. In addition to helping you chew, your teeth also help you speak clearly and easily. So why do most patients over the age of 45 lose some or all of their teeth? It is estimated that 92% of adults between the ages of 20-64 suffer from tooth decay in India. Likewise, the number of people over the age of 45 who suffer from missing teeth is also significant. Tooth decay, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, and trauma are common causes of tooth loss. Some people are born without certain teeth, and the condition is known as congenital missing teeth.
DENTAL IMPLANTS FOR MISSING TEETH
Dental implants can now be fixed in one day. Dental implants are the best way to replace your missing teeth. This is usually one of the dentist’s first suggestions for replacing a missing tooth. Dental implants have been in use since the 1950s and have been improved in various institutions over the years. Dental implants resemble ordinary teeth, so you can do amazing things with confidence. Many people who did not want to smile because of tooth loss feel better after an implant. In addition, the implant is firmly secured to the jaw, making eating and conversation easier.
ZYGOMATIC IMPLANT IN ONE DAY?
Zygomatic implants are used when the maxilla does not have enough bone to hold a regular dental implant. The difference between a cheekbone implant and a regular dental implant is that the former is longer and is inserted diagonally into the cheekbone to use additional bone. This bone is usually not resorbed. Therefore, zygomatic implants can be used as an alternative to complex bone build-up.

Before surgery, the team at India Dental Tourism conducts a meticulous and thorough examination to create an exact surgical model. First, take a 3D X-ray (DVT) and a pre-treatment photo. Then plaster the patient’s tooth model. This is necessary to accurately determine the position of the implant and the required length. Such preparations are completely painless for the patient and take only a few minutes. In situations where the impact implant cannot bear the load, it may be necessary to use a custom implant.
With zygomatic implants offered at India Dental Tourism, there is no need to perform complex bone grafting surgery, which can take up to six months to heal and several procedures to have fully functioning teeth. With advanced Implantology; dental treatment for missing teeth in less or no bone can be completed in just One Day or a Single Sitting.”
How is a zygoma implant placed?
The zygoma implants are placed for the eating teeth of the jaw and are approached within the mouth, along with the placement of additional dental implants in the front region of the jaw. If the case is found to be too severe, two zygomatic implants may be placed on each side, which is known as Quad Zygoma. In cases of severe complexities, a custom made implant may be suitable. With proper planning and expertise, the implant treatment can be completed on the same day. The fixing of the tooth can also be done immediately.
